Ampleforth

Mild, dreamy worker producing garbled definitive texts of poems deemed ideologically offensive. Ampleforth appears wandering limply in the canteen while Winston tries to speak to the girl, but he sits at another table and does not interact with Winston. Ampleforth, a fellow prisoner, is encountered in Winston’s cell and later escorted to Room 101, showing his involvement in the same torture sequence.
