Chapter 11

Jet and Billy arrive at 19 Pleasant Street, ringing the doorbell of Gerry Clay. After a brief exchange, Gerry lets them in and leads them to the kitchen. A mirror in the hallway shows Jet’s right eye dilated. In the backyard, Gerry’s teenage son Owen, hidden in a baggy hoodie, is operating a drone. Jet tells Owen they need the photos he took at the Halloween Fair. Owen reluctantly hands over a folder containing 628 raw images.

While browsing the files on Owen’s dual‑monitor setup, Jet and Billy examine a series of fair pictures: pumpkins, costumed attendees, and a photo of Jet’s parents at their candy‑corn stall, noting her father’s failing kidneys. They then find a picture of JJ Lim (the Lim brothers) wearing a bright red wig, and later a separate photo of Andrew Smith at the fair, also wearing an identical red wig. Comparing the two, they conclude the wig matches the single red‑wig hair fragment found at the murder scene, making Andrew Smith a prime suspect.

Jet confronts Owen, threatening to expose his “freaky little porn collection” if he tells anyone about their presence. She then leaves the house, finds a parking‑ticket sleeve stuck to her windshield, rips the ticket into pieces, and discards it dramatically. The chapter ends with Jet and Billy determined to track down Andrew Smith based on the wig evidence.
