4 DECEMBER - 2 HOURS, 15 MINUTES UNTIL DAWN

At 5:05 A.M. Scott wakes in his front‑room, noticing an impossible large clock whose hands race past six o’clock. A man wearing a devil mask squats on his knees, leaning elbows on Scott’s. The masked figure, a memory from the stone building, begins probing Scott about his home life, pressing him on Jodie’s whereabouts and their recent argument. As the clock ticks to twenty‑past six, Scott realizes Jodie is not in the living room but “in the room next door.” The man suggests Jodie is unhappy, hints at an affair, and eventually insists that Jodie has been cheating repeatedly with Kevin Simpson, recounting a “dirty little hotel” episode. He presents Scott with a single sheet of paper, flashing a torch light to illuminate the page. The paper contains a fabricated message that mimics a casual text about calling in sick, followed by a reverse‑written, handwritten scrawl on the back that reads, “This is how much she loves you… You put up with her… she goes and fucks somebody else.” The masked captor taunts Scott, telling him his relationship means nothing, before vanishing and the front‑room returns to normal, the clock disappearing. Disoriented, Scott staggers to the bedroom, where Jodie lies on the far side of the bed, asleep, her legs curled. He tells her “I love you,” receives no verbal reply, but she instinctively reaches up and holds his hand as he lies behind her, pressing his face to her hair. The scene ends with Scott whispering his devotion despite the lingering terror.
